Once the mystery-sounds of the Wish-Fulfilling Tree have been heard there is a new zeal now stirring in the blood. This region of new frenzy is the gateway of the Great Liberation. It is the place variously represented in the myths and legends of the World as a threshold where the frightening Gate Guardians stand, the Sirens sing, the Clashing Rocks come together, each of which keep the seeker from entering the New Kingdom. Yet the zealot sets forth to enter the land of no return, the land below the waves, or the land of eternal youth. This Virgin Birth within is well expressed in Saint Paul’s statement, “...I live, yet not I, but Christ liveth in me...” (Gal. 2:20)
